HARRINGTON FALLS SWIM TEAM
Code of Conduct and Discipline Policy
To provide all swimmers participating on the Harrington Falls Swim Team with a healthy, safe, positive team experience, the Harrington Falls Swim Team has adopted the following guidelines regarding expectations for swimmer conduct and discipline. We are committed to ensuring that our swim team maintains the highest standard of behavior. Code of Conduct The purpose of a code of conduct is to establish a consistent expectation for swimmers’ behavior.
1. Swimmer will always respect and show courtesy to his/her teammates, coaches, and all adults.
2. Swimmer will demonstrate good sportsmanship at all practices and meets.
3. Swimmer will set a good example of behavior and work ethic for younger teammates.
4. Swimmer will be respectful of teammates’ personal space. Inappropriate or unwanted behavior includes but is not limited to dunking head under water, splashing excessively, touching, kicking, pushing/shoving, hitting, yelling, etc.
5. Swimmer will refrain from foul language, inappropriate gestures, violence, and behavior deemed unsafe, dishonest, offensive, or illegal.
6. Swimmer will show respect for all facilities and other property (including bathrooms, playground, and clubhouse) used during practices, competitions, and team activities – including facilities at away meets.
Discipline Policy Reasons which would result in disciplinary action are defined as activity expressly stated in the Code of Conduct. Coaches, Swim Team Parent Representative, and Harrington Falls HOA Board members have the authority to interpret the Code of Conduct as they deem appropriate. Actions taken by the Harrington Falls Swim Team representatives and/or Harrington Falls HOA Board members may include, but are not limited to:
1st Incident or Offense – Verbal reprimand
a. Verbal reprimand by coaching staff, Swim Team Parent Representative, or other parents acting in a volunteer role such as bull pen volunteers and restorative action by the swimmer (ex. Apology to other party, repair of damage, and/or expulsion from that day’s activity for remainder of the day). The Swim Team Parent Representative is to be made aware of the incident by the observing party. The Swim Team Parent Representative will subsequently communicate the incident to the swimmer’s parent.
2nd Incident or Offense – Written warning
b. Written warning from Swim Team Parent Representative detailing the infraction, current consequences which include removal from the immediate practice or meet, at the discretion of the Swim Team Parent Representative, and future consequences pertaining to continued occurrences. Swim Team Parent Representative will inform the Harrington Falls HOA Board of the related situation.
3rd Incident or Offense – Suspension
c. Suspension from all team activities for an indeterminate time and a written warning from the Swim team Parent Representative detailing the infraction and future consequences pertaining to continued occurrences. Swim Team Parent Representative will inform the Harrington Falls HOA Board of the related situation.
4th Incident or Offense – Dismissal
d. Dismissal from all team activities for the season as determined by the coaching staff, Swim Team Parent Representative, and HOA Board. No refunds will be granted for dismissal with cause.

* If a situation is deemed to be so excessive, egregious, and/or dangerous, the Swim Team Representative, along with consultation with the Harrington Falls HOA Board, reserve the right to escalate discipline within the policy as they deem fit, without multiple occurrences. By signing this document, you acknowledge and agree to the preceding content stated above on behalf of each swimmer in your family, effective immediately. It is also understood that if any swimmers violate the content of this document, they will be subject to disciplinary action outlined in the guidelines and as determined by the coaches, staff, and/or the Harrington Falls HOA Board up to and including separation from the team.
