2023

Hello Hammerheads!

It's a gorgeous day outside! I can't believe swim season is right around the corner. In fact, if you have not seen it on social media, the Harrington Falls pool is getting a face lift! We are in the middle of refinishing and retiling the pool. Unfortunately, the neighborhood was unable to deepen the pool, which was a $300-400K expense that they were not ready to tackle. But on a happier note, it will be ready in the next 2 weeks and will look new/updated for this upcoming summer.

I have a lot of information about this upcoming season in this email, please read carefully. If you are not planning on swimming with us this summer please let me know and I can remove you from the email distribution list.

REGISTRATION: Registration for the 2023 summer season opens in one week! HOA members will receive an email from Access Management with a private link to register on 3/14. NonHOA returning members, I will email a private link on 3/15. Please do not pass the private link on to new families. I have to approve each family that registers so if a new family tries to register with the private link, I won't approve them and they will have to register again on 3/16. On 3/16 Registration will be open to the public or new members on our website. www.swimharringtonfalls.swimtopia.com

COACHES: I am happy to announce our coaching staff for 2023! Head Coaches are Gabby Beckman and Patrick Carr. Assistant Coaches are Shay Blount, Bria Blount, and Kylie Kroger. Junior Coaches are Caroline Young, Lilah Beckman, Shea O'Neill, and Piper O'Neill. Per Diem Coach Nick Maharishchev.

MEET AND GREET: This year we will have a Mandatory Meet and Greet on Sunday, April 23rd 3pm at the Harrington Falls Clubhouse. One parent from each family must attend this meeting.

PRACTICE: Team practice will start on Monday May 1, 2023. This year all 6&Under age group, 7/8 age group, and any other age group swimmers new to our team will have swim evaluations either May 1st or May 2nd. After evaluations, if the coaches feel like a swimmer needs more help with swim technique, then that swimmer will be placed in our Skills Practice. Skills Practice is the first practice of the day. It is designed to give these swimmers more attention in developing their swim technique and strokes. Coaches will be in the water assisting these swimmers. The goal is to have each swimmer graduate Skills Practice and move into their designated age group practice feeling confident about swimming on the Hammerhead swim team! All practice times are on our website.

MEETS: The ASA will give each team their HOME and AWAY schedule in April. The meet dates are as follows: MOCK MEET Wednesday 5/17, 1ST MEET 6/1, 2ND MEET 6/8, 3RD MEET 6/15, 4TH MEET 6/22, 5TH MEET 6/27. GATECH COUNTY MEET 6/29 OR 6/30

OPEN POSITIONS: The team needs a new Concession Chair, please consider this vital role. If 2 people want to share this role or if anyone has new ideas for concessions please reach out to me. Also the team is looking for a Bullpen Liaison. The Bullpen Liaison will communicate between coaches and bullpens at the meets to notify each other of updates or changes to the Heat Sheet prior to the meet starting. This person will also help the junior coaches with the swimmer lineup prior to moving them to the swim deck. Another opportunity is Computer Operator, this position enters the swim times into the computer system with the opposing team's computer operator at each swim meet. There is a short video that needs to be watched prior to the season, so you can become familiar with the software. All positions omit you from being on a volunteer committee and come with a parking spot at the clubhouse for all HOME swim meets.

VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS: At this time the number of volunteer shift requirements is 5 half-meet shifts per family. New this year, families will only be allowed to work 2 half-meet shifts total per swim meet. For example, you and your husband can not work both halves of one meet and count for 4 shifts, doing this makes us short volunteers at other swim meets. Depending on our registration numbers this year, the number of shifts could increase to 6 half-meet shifts. Don't freak out! There are plenty of opportunities to volunteer, we have a mock meet, 5 swim meets, ASA county swim meet, and end of the season banquet. Volunteer committee assignments and shift sign ups will be emailed in April. I will let everyone know the number of shifts before April.

SWIMSUITS: Our team suit is the same suit as last year. It is a TYR navy suit with our team logo in royal blue. Suits can be purchased on our website under the tab "Team Suit" and will be mailed directly to you. Swim team suits do not fit nor are sized like normal swimsuits. If you have questions about suit sizes or would like to try on the suit please visit the Reddiset Store at Swim Atlanta Johns Creek. New suits need to be ordered by the Meet and Greet April 23rd.

Please take the time reacquaint yourself with our website prior to registration there is a lot of information on it!
