Hello 2023 Hammerheads !

Hello 2023 Hammerheads !

I wanted to reach out to everyone before spring break and welcome our new team members, but also give a warm hug to our returning team members. I am so excited about this season. We are going to have a blast....from a fun team building mock meet, 5 in person meets, 4 Fun Fridays, an awesome opportunity swimming at GaTech Aquatic Center, and an absolutely incredible coaching staff. Who could ask for a better start to summer!

One of my main goals as Team Parent is to relay information to you as soon as possible. We have over 75 families on our team, that's a lot of family schedules! After we receive our Meet Schedule in early April, I will create a Google Calendar that will be displayed on our Team Website's Homepage. The calendar will have every practice, meet, and event for our team. You will be able to link it to your personal calendar. I want you to have everything you need to make your family's schedule as easy as possible.

Closing Registration

If you have friends who want to swim us this summer please encourage them to go ahead a register. The Atlanta Swim Associations Late Fees start 4/16 and I will most likely close registration before the Meet and Greet. Prolonging registration causes and back up in other areas of team managment. If they have questions I am happy to talk to anyone about the team, and answer any questions they may have about swimming this summer.

Coaches

I am happy to announce our coaching staff for 2023! Head Coaches are Gabby Beckman and Patrick Carr. Assistant Coaches are Shay Blount, Bria Blount, and Kylie Kroger. Junior Coaches are Caroline Young, Lilah Beckman, Shea O'Neill, and Piper O'Neill. Per Diem Coach Nick Maharishchev. You can find their pictures and bios on our website.

Meet and Greet

This year we will have a Mandatory Meet and Greet on Sunday, April 23rd 3pm at the Harrington Falls Clubhouse. One parent from each family must attend this meeting.

Volunteer Committee and Shift Sign Ups

Once we have our schedule in early April, the Volunteer Co-Chairs will assign parents to a volunteer committee based off the rankings that were provided during registration. Also, the Co-Chairs will create (for each committee) the sign up shifts needed per meet. An email will be sent leading up to the Meet and Greet with your volunteer committee assignment. After the email is sent, you will be able to login into your account, declare your swimmer(s) for each swim meet, and sign up for all your volunteer shifts for the season.

Open Position

The team needs a new Concession Chair, please consider this vital role. If 2 people want to share this role or if anyone has new ideas for concessions please reach out to me ASAP. This Chair position omits you from volunteers shift requirements, and comes with a Clubhouse Parking Pass to all Home Meets.

Website

There is a ton information on our website. Please take the time to read through this information. Also, download the app that corresponds with the website, it will come in handy once the season starts. Please email or text me if you have any questions. I am pretty easy going, and I would rather have 10 emails with 10 questions than you assume something.

If you don't know me well, I am a nurse, and I work a couple days a week. If I email or text you back and the email is only a sentence or two, please don't take offense, most likely I was at work.

Team Suit

It is time to order our team swim suit. Swim team suits do not fit like normal swim suits. They are meant to be tight. However, if your kid doesn't like tight then order a bigger size, we are sticking with this design for awhile. Suits can be tried on at Swim Atlanta Johns Creek but they have to be ordered from our website. The information about the team suit is on our website under "Team Suit" Tab. Reddiset has added a lot of "extras" to the swim suit link. You do not need to buy flippers or a kick board for practice, nor do you have to buy goggles from their site. Goggles from Walmart or Target are just fine, but you do want them snug! Returning families, if your solid navy suit with logo suit doesn't fit please let me know. I have several families looking for used suits at a cheaper price. Right now, I know of two girls; one is looking for a 22 and the other a 24 to buy. Also, there is boy who has a 22 to sale.

GENIUS IDEA*** A mom on our team found the suit style on Amazon. She ordered several different sizes and tried them on her kids at home (she even let some other kids try them on) after she knew what size to order, she went on our website and ordered our team suit. She returned the black suits to Amazon... now that's a smart shopper!

Brush Up and Skills Practice

If your kids need a little brush up before May there are so many great places around here that offer lessons. We understand they may be a little out of shape at first, and that's okay. They will bounce back and find their fins quickly! Please remember we do not have a junior team and if they need lessons go ahead and do that now, don't wait! We require our swimmers to be able to swim the length of a swimming pool (25 yards). New this year, we will be having swim evaluations on the first 2 days of practice. Please show up for practice on May 1st and 2nd at your regular age group practice time. We will evaluate every 6&under, every 7/8, and any other age swimmer new to our team. If the coaches feel like your swimmer needs a little more hands on help, they will ask your swimmer to join our Skills Practice Group. During Skills Practice there will be a coach in each lane to assist swimmers in the water with proper swim technique and basic stroke development. The goal is to graduate from Skills Practice and swim with your designated age group's practice.

Spirit Wear

If you forgot to order Spirit Wear at Registration it is not too late! On our website under the "Team Store" tab you can still order spirit wear for your family. The team store will be open till Mid April.

Sponsorship

We are looking for Sponsors for the 2023 Season. Harrington Falls Swim Team is a nonprofit, family oriented swim program. Our program is open to any child in the surrounding area - additionally pulling from multiple neighborhoods in Milton and Alpharetta that don’t have neighborhood teams. The summer swim team averages 130 swimmers each year. We train each day and compete against other area neighborhood swim teams for four consecutive weeks in June. Sponsorship funds will be used to cover our many expenses such as: coaching salaries, maintenance of swim team equipment, supplies for swim team events, and printing t-shirts that all swimmers wear at swim meets. During the season, the Hammerheads will host and participate in weekly swim meets with several hundred swimmers and their families from our team. During the meets hosted at Harrington Falls, sponsors will receive signage recognition, as well as, public address announcements throughout the meet. If you're interested in supporting the Harrington Falls swim team, and raising awareness for your company in the Milton, Alpharetta area please contact Tara Casey (404) 918-7186 or Aron Canouse (404) 434-1583. All information about sponsorship is on our website under the "Sponsors" tab.

Again have a wonderful and safe spring break. If you have any questions please email or text me.
