Week #1
Hammerheads,
Here is a quick run down of next week.
Monday 5/29
Happy Memorial Day! Please login and declare for Thursday's meet. We have a huge need for volunteers, we will open up the next two swim meets to all committees to fill in spots. 2023 Team Shirts are in and will be distributed at practice on Tuesday.
Tuesday 5/30
First Day of Morning Practice. See practice schedule below. Please remember to declare "yes" or "no" for Thursday's meet by 10am! In a previous email, steps for declaration were explained. All swimmers must declare. We can not declare for you, you must do that for yourself. Coach Gabby sent an email after the mock meet reminding families that swimmers can not be added last minute to a meet. Also it affects the entire team if you declare "yes" and then no show for the meet. Last season we had a high substition rate because of no shows, let's try to do better this season.
| 8:00 - 8:30 | Coach Supported Practice |
| 8:30 - 9:00 | 6&Under |
| 9:15 - 10:00 | 7&8 |
| 10:15 - 11:00 | 9&10 |
| 11:15 - 12:00 | 11&Up |
Wednesday 5/31
Please wear your NAVY team suit to practice on Tuesday! Sportography will start at 8am taking individual pictures and will continue through practice times. We will take the Team Picture at approximately 10 am (between 7/8 and 9/10 age group practice). After the team picture, Sportography will continue taking individual pictures. Please understand this will make practice times be delayed on Wednesday. Please plan accordingly.
Thursday 6/1
Normal Morning Practice Times. We will write meet events on each swimmers arm during practice.
MEET AGAINST GLENN ABBEY
- Pool Address: 3600 Grey Abbey Drive, Alpharetta, GA 30022
- Timeline: Away Team Arrives at 4:30. Away Team Warm Up Starts at 4:50.
- Please allow adequate time to get to Glenn Abbey neighborhood. At that time of day, traffic on Kimball Bridge is awful. It can take 45 minutes to get to Glenn Abbey, from our side of Alpharetta. 5:15 Head Coach/ASA official meeting AND timer meeting; 5:20 Line up Events 1-3; 5:30 meet begins
- Parking: They have parking in front of the pool, but it will fill-up quickly. Additional parking will be on the street, but only one side as they have to leave access for emergency vehicles through the neighborhood. There will be “no parking” signs.
- Visitor Bullpen: Our bullpen will be in a roped-off area of the Clubhouse parking lot, and we will go down a set of stairs to access the pool deck. Tents, chairs and/or blankets are recommended. I do not know if our bullpen is in the shade. The team has tents for each bullpen. I would highly recommend bringing picnic blankets, yoga mats, or extra towels to place on top of the parking lot.
- Pool: They have an 8 lane pool with diving blocks on one side. Their shallow end is not deep enough for dives, so even numbers on relays must start in the water. We will use all 8 lanes unless coaches decide otherwise.
- Volunteers:
- Computer operators and ribbon writing will be upstairs in the clubhouse.
- Timers: We have an electronic timing system. It’s easy to use, and we will have a mandatory Timer Meeting at 5:15 p.m. to ensure all timers understand the system. I have more information I will email timers seperatley.
- This meeting will be on the top floor of the clubhouse.
- We will have one timer from Glen Abbey and one timer from your team in each lane. You will not need a master recorder with the timing system.
- We still have place judges, but the timing system determines race winners.
- Concessions: Come hungry! We will have BBQ sandwiches, pizza, walking tacos, mac & cheese, and assorted candy and drinks. CASH ONLY!
Friday 6/2 FUN FRIDAY THEME is ALOHA SUMMER
All Team Free Swim at 9am. Wear your favorite tropical swimsuit, lei, and grass skirt! The pool will be full of Beach Balls! We will have tropical tattoos, popsicles, and a prize for the longest Hula Hooper. So Bring Your Own Hula Hoop!
Team Health Announcement
Last year we had a bad run of Swimmer's Ear. Swimmers' Ear is very easy to prevent. See the linked articles from American Academy of Pediatrics and Mayo Clinic about prevention of Swimmer's Ear
