Weekly Update #3

Hammerhead Families,

We are officially halfway through the season!

We've already completed one away meet and one home meet, and this week's home meet should feel a little less hectic now that team pictures are behind us. The rain and thunderstorms have finally moved on, and the forecast is calling for a beautiful summer evening. After all, the Harrington Falls pool deck is the coolest place to be on a Thursday night in Alpharetta!

Before tonight's meet, I'd like to cover a few important reminders and updates.

Parking & Arrival Information

To help ensure a safe and smooth experience for everyone attending our swim meets, please review the following parking guidelines:

  • Parking on Harrington Drive is limited to the left side only (the side closest to the tennis courts).
  • In accordance with fire safety regulations, all vehicles must be parked facing toward the neighborhood exit.
  • Please do not park on both sides of Harrington Drive, as emergency vehicles and neighborhood traffic must be able to pass through at all times.
  • Parking may require a longer walk to the pool area, so we recommend bringing a wagon or cart to transport chairs, coolers, and swim gear.
  • We are working on golf cart shuttles and if you live in Harrington Falls we would love a little help transporting swimmers and spectators.

Neighborhood Courtesy

Following last week's meet, a neighbor's mailbox was damaged. No one has come forward regarding the incident, and neither I nor the HOA Board is placing blame on our swim team. However, it serves as a reminder that we all need to be mindful and respectful of our neighbors and their property while attending swim meets.

As a courtesy to our neighbors, we kindly ask all swimmers, families, and visitors to:

  • Use the end of Harrington Drive or neighborhood cul-de-sacs to turn around rather than using residents' driveways.
  • Be mindful of private property near the neighborhood entrance and throughout the community.
  • Respect any cones or temporary markers placed near driveways to help keep access clear for homeowners.
  • Drive slowly and watch carefully for children, pedestrians, and golf carts.

We appreciate everyone's cooperation in helping us maintain a positive relationship with our neighbors while keeping our swimmers, families, visitors, and community safe.

Clubhouse Parking Lot Reminder

Please remember that the clubhouse parking lot closes at 3:00 PM on meet days and is reserved exclusively for designated committee members, coaches, officials, and approved meet personnel.

If you are attending the meet, please park on the street beyond the handicap spaces and follow all posted parking instructions.

A Quick Thank You (and a Small Request)

I would also like to sincerely thank all of the parents who stayed after last Thursday's meet to help clean up the pool deck and clubhouse area. And those of you who helped pick up trash last Friday morning. Unfortunately, because of my work schedule, I am unable to attend Fun Fridays. As many of you know, I am a registered nurse and work 10-hour shifts on Mondays and Fridays at an infusion center. I truly appreciate those who stepped in to help keep our facilities looking their best.

I would also like to ask for your help again this Thursday night and Friday morning following the meet.

Several parents informed me that there was an excessive amount of chewed and discarded gum left on the pool deck after last week's meet. Unfortunately, volunteers had to spend time scraping gum off the deck—a pretty unpleasant task!

Please remember that while we are fortunate to use this facility, the Harrington Falls pool is HOA property, and it is our responsibility as a team to leave it in the same condition we found it.

As a result, I have made the decision to discontinue the sale of Bubble Tape gum at our meets. I know many of us have fond memories of Hubba Bubba Bubble Tape from our own childhoods, and I hate to take away a fun treat. However, I cannot justify continuing to sell a product that is contributing to damage and excessive cleanup on the pool deck.

Thank you for your understanding and for helping us keep our pool beautiful for our swimmers, families, and neighbors. It truly takes a team effort, and I am grateful for everyone's support.

Meet Photos

We are fortunate to have a team photographer capturing special moments throughout the season. Photos from our first two meets are now available to view and download using the links below:

A huge thank you to our photographer Chris Hayes for volunteering her time to help preserve these memories for our swimmers and families. We hope you enjoy looking back at all the fun, excitement, and team spirit captured so far this season!

Looking Ahead

While we may be halfway through the season, we still have some exciting events ahead!

One of the highlights will be the optional ASA Championship Meet held at Georgia Tech. This is always a fun opportunity for swimmers to compete against athletes from across the league in an incredible venue. With over a 150 teams and 6 separate sessions, the ASA Championship is the largest recreational swim meet in the country! Coach Rose will be sending out detailed information about the ASA meet this weekend, so be on the lookout for that communication.

We also have our End-of-Season Fiesta Banquet coming up! This is one of our favorite team traditions and a great way to celebrate all of the hard work, friendships, and accomplishments from the season.

And of course, we can't forget the relays that everyone looks forward to:

🏊 Parent vs. Coach Relay
🏊 Parent vs. Swimmer Relay
🏊 Coach vs. Swimmer Relay

These relays are always full of laughs, friendly competition, and plenty of team spirit. Whether you're swimming, cheering, or simply enjoying the fun, you won't want to miss it!

We still have lots of memories to make, races to swim, and Hammerhead spirit to share. Let's make the second half of the season our best yet.

Thank you all for everything you do to make this team such a special place.

Go Hammerheads!
