Meet #4 Update

Hi Hammerhead Families,

I just finished a very productive conversation with the Team Parent from Windward. We talked through the different weather scenarios, potential delays, and the various storm bands expected to move through our area tonight.

After carefully considering all of the information available, we have jointly decided that, for the safety of everyone involved, we will NOT have tonight’s swim meet and will it be recorded as a draw (tie). We both feel there is about a 50/50 chance that this ends up being the right call, but with the uncertainty in the forecast and the potential for extended weather delays, we believe this is the best decision for our swimmers, families, volunteers, and officials.

Some teams are moving forward with their meets tonight, while many others have chosen to cancel early. Weather forecasts continue to vary depending on which source you look at, making this a particularly difficult decision.

All families who were signed up to volunteer tonight will receive credit for their volunteer shifts. Thank you for your willingness to help and support the team.

If it turns out to be a beautiful evening, enjoy the unexpected free Thursday night with your family. And if the storms do arrive, stay safe and dry at home.

Weather permits tomorrow, we’ll see everyone at Fun Friday! We’ll have donuts and will recognize our Best Practice Swimmers of the Week with awards.

A quick note for parents whose swimmers attended practice today: if your swimmer still has Sharpie event numbers written on their arm, they can be easily removed with rubbing alcohol, hand sanitizer, or aerosol sunscreen sprayed on the area and wiped off.

Important Reminders:

🔹 ASA Championship registration closes tomorrow at 1:00 PM. Coach Rose sent information about ASA on Sunday. If your swimmer would like to participate, please email Coach Rose before the deadline.

🔹 Please RSVP for the End-of-Season Banquet in the Sign-Up Calendar by tomorrow at 5:00 PM. We need to provide our caterer with an accurate count, so your prompt response is greatly appreciated.

Thank you all for your understanding and flexibility throughout the day. I know this wasn’t the outcome many were hoping for, but I appreciate everyone’s patience as we worked through the information and made the best decision we could with the forecast we had.

Go Hammerheads!
